About Stop Tears
STOP TEARS – A Movement towards Smiles is a Non-Profit Organization, registered on August 08, 2013 under the Indian Charitable Trust Act 1882. Established for the integrated development of rural areas, STOP TEARS works at the grassroots, directly with the rural poor, turning tears of despair into smiles of hope. Our name “STOP TEARS” reflects the heart of our mission – to heal, uplift, and empower. We began with the belief that every child deserves education and that nurturing young minds is the key to building a strong nation. But along our journey, we realized that true development cannot happen in isolation. A child can learn better in a good school, a family can live with dignity if healthcare is accessible, and a community can thrive only when there are opportunities for livelihood and growth.
Our Focus Areas in Uttarakhand’s Rural & Hilly Regions
- Better Education & School Infrastructure – Building and improving schools so that children in remote villages have access to safe classrooms, libraries, and resources that inspire learning.
- Healthcare & Medical Facilities – Strengthening rural hospitals with better medical equipment, organizing free health camps, and promoting preventive healthcare in regions where hospitals are scarce.
- Environment & Cleanliness – Tree plantation drives, cleanliness programs under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, and spreading awareness about sustainable living.
- Youth Motivation & Social Responsibility – Inspiring young students to take initiative, contribute to their communities, and become changemakers for society.
- Renewable Energy & Solar Use – Promoting clean and affordable energy solutions in villages where electricity is irregular or absent. Women Empowerment & Self-Employment – Training and supporting women and rural youth to create income-generating activities, fost ering independence and dignity.
